Meet Azulita
Meet Azulita once named Bluea from San Pedro Belize Saga Humane Foundation. We found Azulita at the most bizarre moment of our life. She was quiet, gentle and serene in nature with the most joyful and calm energy. First we took Bluey and Silver home to the Quinta to live and then I was in a place where I really needed a companion. I could not see my little dogs at the time Pushy and Frida and needed a friend desperately whilst being in exile from Mexico. I went to walk the Saga dogs every day to make sure they got exercise and originally I wanted two smaller dogs Zoe and Xicha but slowly this little lady melt my heart. She had been in the home the longest out of all the small dogs. She was medium size on the small size and if you look at all of them she is quite plain in comparison. She had been over looked time and time again. So we decided she was the one to be chosen by us.
Azulita became the best companion over the darkest days. She had been terribly abused when a baby and had been taken in by Saga who had to deal with a lot of her fears. Still fearful of even her water bowl she cowered every time and believed she was going to get hit or kicked or tortured. She managed to keep her sweet nature though and is never ever aggressive. She sometimes protects the house like she is a lion but she is soft and gentle like an angel always sleeping in our bed. With Frida’s passing she has become an ally to Pushy and a constant baby to us. Sleeping inbetween us she doesn’t even know a dog bed - no that is for all the other dogs that lie beside us. Azulita is in the bed and always will be. She is such a blessing and we don’t know what life would be without her.
Now Azulita is a confident, happy and content dog. She no longer is scared of anything and really knows love. Her life is consistent and so is our love for her. It really shows what love can do and she has thrived at the Quinta. Never returning to a foster home again or to abuse. It was like she waited for us all those years (maybe 2 or 3) to have us as her parents. We are so honoured.
